The entrance of FSI as a foreign investor and majority shareholder into Utilitas has formed a rapid expansion platform for UGI. Today UGI’s Management Board consists of three members – Kristjan Rahu, Priit Koit and Valdur Laid – who jointly make the investment decisions.
Kristjan Rahu
Founder and board member of UGIKristjan is an entrepreneur and philanthropist, the founder and chairman of the council of Utilitas – the largest renewable energy group in Estonia. Amongst his many positions, Kristjan is a benefactor and a board member of the cancer cure foundation Kingitud Elu, and the founder of MTÜ Vöimalus, which supports cultural, sports, youth, and other non-profit projects on the Estonian island of Saaremaa. Kristjan holds a degree from the School of Law of the University of Tartu.
Priit Koit
Board memberPriit has been the CEO of the energy group Utilitas since 2013. Before joining Utilitas, he worked for more than 15 years in the leadership teams of M&A operations of the leading investment banks in the region. Priit has an MA from TalTech Department of Economics.
Valdur Laid
Board memberValdur is a seasoned top executive. Before joining UGI in 2020, he was director general of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. From 2002 to 2017, he worked at the telecommunications company Telia – eight years as the CEO of Elion (now Telia Estonia) and four years as the CEO of Telia Finland. Valdur has an MA from TalTech Department of Economics and holds an MBA from IMD, Lausanne.
